When a resort has an array of wellness activities for me, incredible offerings for our kids, and 27 Troon-managed holes for Chris to golf, it’s going to be a clear favorite for the Pronger family.
Scottsdale, Arizona takes my breath away. It’s vibrant and relaxed, I can feel the sun on my shoulders and gaze at the mountains in the distance; it’s a little bit of everything I love. Staying at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa affords Chris and me the opportunity to deeply enjoy a family vacation with all of the perks we’d find at a total wellness retreat. Agave, The Arizona Spa & Salon marries traditional regional health practices with innovative wellness options from across the globe. Many treatments are infused with the Agave plant, utilizing its rich components in the Agave Enchantment Experience, an Agave scalp treatment, the Signature Organic Facial (a favorite of mine!) and more.
A truly unique and fun offering provided at the spa you won’t find just anywhere – Agave, The Arizona Spa & Salon hosts tea readings with a resident Tea Leaf Reader/Astrologer and Intuitive Consultant. During this treatment you sip tea and deeply ponder two life questions. After your tea is finished the reader interprets your tea leaves and gives you a thorough reading.
The spa shares a variety of add-ons for tired travelers – imagine kicking off your vacation with a Tequila Lime Refresher Facial? Yes, please! You’ll also find some incredible treatments intended to enhance your whole body wellness including massages, facials, and manicures/pedicures.
Abundant Healthy Dining Options
Chefs create menus to suit the healthy cravings of travelers with a variety of dietary needs. You can taste the artful arrangement of their freshly grown fruits and veggies seasoned to enhance their natural flavors. Chilled, grilled, or arranged in a dish – I crave food from the Southwest! Many of the dishes created by the masterful chefs feature “superfoods” packed with nutrition. Of course, if you’d prefer a bit of Scotch after your meal or you’re craving something rich for dessert they’ve got that, too!
A Golfer’s Paradise
If there’s a golf course at or near our resort, there’s a strong chance you’ll find Chris there. Golfing is something we both love to do which makes The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa even more appealing for our “couples” or “family” vacations. Luckily for me, it’s easy to pick out my 6’6” golfer just about anywhere on the beautifully manicured Scottsdale course. Chris loves that the links designed by Course Architect, Scott Miller, are divided into three nines, creating a variety of challenges and experiences all in one place. They’re constantly making improvements or innovations to this course, and topped they’ve won a staggering amount of awards including “America’s 9 Most Cheerful Golf Courses” by Golf Digest.
Running Through Fitness Options
Here you’ll find the WestinWORKOUT® fitness studio that has virtually everything you need from your warmup to a nutritious drink artfully created at the juice bar afterwards. Group class offerings and a variety of heart pumping exercise opportunities are abundant to say the least!
Some of my favorite or the most unique classes I saw included the Happy Hour Vinyasa created for everyone – and it finished with the cocktail of your choice! The Guts and Glutes class targeted two popular “problem areas” and this class burned in the very best way. The Westin Kierland even offers a Run Concierge – a class that can be varying in size dependent on how many are interested, but you’re continually motivated by a running escort who takes you across the grounds. I like to think of this offering as an early morning guided tour with a complimentary sweat!
Family Fun + Activities for Everyone
If you can tear yourself away from your gorgeous accommodations you’ll find luxury shopping, loads of entertainment options, and local flavor peppered throughout the grounds or just a quick walk away. Our kids love the Adventure Waterpark featuring the Lazy River and FlowRider (I’m nearly certain buying one of these for our home may be a sound investment!) The convenience factor of all of the fun in Scottsdale being at your fingertips makes this locale even more incredible!
