Monuments and memorials on the Mall. The Smithsonian and Library of Congress.
Eclectic neighborhoods, local cuisine and cherry blossoms. Washington, D.C. is one of the most unique cities in the world. Tour the monuments and be awe struck and humbled by the beauty and history behind it all. Head to the Mall and you will see many of the city’s more than 70 museums. We love The National Gallery of Art for both classic and modern art. Make sure you ride the subterranean, the lit walkway between the two buildings. Art lovers have The Hirschhorn Museum, known for its extensive collection of modern and contemporary art, including works by Pablo Picasso, Henry Moore and Yayoi Kusama. The sculpture garden is a must-see, as it includes the famous Wish Tree by Yoko Ono. The Freer | Sackler Galleries are open to the public as well, so you can do a fully immersive art tour. The National Holocaust Museum is a moving tribute to understand the narrative of the Holocaust through artifacts, videos and personal stories. The whole family will love The Air and Space Museum, and be delighted by the scope here, including Charles Lindbergh’s Spirit of St. Louis, the Wright brothers’ original 1903 flyer, astronaut space suits and a lunar rock sample. There is the newly opened National Museum of African American History and Culture, the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history and culture. While you are on the Mall, save time for The National Museum of American History with artifacts that tell the American story. Among these, a few crowd favorites, including the flag that inspired the Star-Spangled Banner, Julia Child’s kitchen, Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, Abraham Lincoln’s stovepipe hat, and even the puffy shirt from a classic Seinfeld episode. There is so much to see and do on the Mall, so bring your walking shoes and sense of adventure. We will curate a cultural tour with everyone’s interests in mind.
Four Seasons Hotel Washington, D.C.
D.C. is a good idea either for an extensive trip or for a quick weekend getaway. An easy drive from New York, Philadelphia or Baltimore and flights into 3 major airports, getting here is stress-free. The nation’s capital has no shortage of topnotch places to call your home away from home. Washington is a city made up of neighborhoods – each with its own character and charm, so let’s first start in the classic Georgetown neighborhood, home to Four Seasons Hotel Washington, D.C., the city’s first Forbes Five Star, AAA Five Diamond property. It was newly renovated in 2016 and the 222 guestrooms – 58 of which are suites – are luxurious and sophisticated. What we love about this hotel, aside from the legendary Four Seasons service, is the location. You are literally steps away from the historic, boutique-lined streets of Georgetown. Make sure to have us book a table for you at Bourbon Steak, Celebrity Chef Michael Mina’s homage to the classic steakhouse. One of the restaurant’s signatures, Michael’s Lobster Pot Pie, takes this dish to a new level with its brandy infused lobster. The cuisine, the ambiance and the service are all beyond compare and should be on the top of all foodies’ lists. The hotel also has the sunny Seasons where you might spy some of Washington’s movers and shakers over a power breakfast, not to mention Season’s gush worthy Sunday brunch- worth waking up for.
